Sadly, I think it's too late for that kind of hope... Do you follow the spoilers? I won't say too much more (perhaps we need a spoiler thread on this board?), but there do seem to be some fantastic (as in unbelievable) plot complications ahead for Jack and Angela. I can survive them as long as their relationship survives, but I'm rolling my eyes even now...saburcat wrote:

No, I don't know anything about spoilers. I'm kind of new to the message board thing, the only other one I belong to is for pet skunks. I can take some unbelievability, if (as you said) their relationship survives. To be honest, as the first season rolled along, I was a little put off by the Jack/Angela thing at first. I mean, there was the scene where Jack and Zach are racing cockroaches, and Angela makes the comment that she's off to "have sex" and Jack's like "yeah, whatever, have fun." But then there is the Christmas episode where Jack has that gorgeous woman come visit. Then suddenly he notices Angela. So at first I thought "cheesy" but in reading the show guides from the second season and seeing that their relationship does progress (but, of course, not having actually seen any 2nd season episodes, I can only read about it, which isn't as much fun) and from what all you have written about it, it sounds like the writers are doing a good job with it so far. Maybe we should start a "Save Hodgela" club.Sadly, I think it's too late for that kind of hope... Do you follow the spoilers? I agree that it was rushed, especially after the first date episode. My biggest complaint is that we've seen the relationship almost exclusively from Hodgins' point of view. We can infer from "Aliens in a Spaceship" that Angela realizes how much she cares for Jack when he goes missing and may be dead, and we can infer from "Headless Witch in the Woods" that she breaks down and begins a physical relationship with him. A little too much inferring and not enough exposition! I would have liked to have seen Angela's thought process as she grapples with her feelings of both desire and fear concerning a relationship with Jack, as well as a more overt expression of her own growing love for him. I say Michaela should feel a little jipped as an actress!late_heart wrote: That said, I miss the more abrasive Jack and the more wary Angela of season one and felt that their romance felt really rushed.
Would anyone else have preferred a much longer, more thorny courtship leading up to the big love? Although... the fireworks once the heavy dose of 'new love schmoop' wear off could be amazing to see, especially because TJ and Michaela could do so much with it!
I've been reading the sides because I can't help it -- and to be completely honest, I read the sides for the squints' dialogue and storylines. I skip most of the two leads' dialogue because that way I'm at least surprised a little when the show airs. And I'm with you -- there's some pretty wide stretches coming up. TJ's got such a way with heartbreaking expressions -- they kill me -- so as long as there aren't many of them, I'll be cool.begolden wrote:Sadly, I think it's too late for that kind of hope... That's kind of how I read them too--I skim to see the names Hodgins and/or Angela, and that's what I focus on. I guess I don't really care about what's going on with the leads, although when I watch the filmed episode, I do care more about all the characters and the overall plot.late_heart wrote: I've been reading the sides because I can't help it -- and to be completely honest, I read the sides for the squints' dialogue and storylines. I'm sure Michaela would agree, and is just waiting for the chance to be allowed to show a little emotion! Of course, I'm exaggerating there, but compared to what TJ has been asked to do in the last season, Michaela is getting jipped! Although it seems like the plot line for them in season three might finally give her the chance to explore a broader range of feeling for the character.ThyneAlone wrote: Heartbreaking expressions...TJ does them superbly. It's like watching a door open on a mind (he's got such a range, hasn't he; he does comedy with style too). I look forward to seeing maybe one slightly sad face from Michaela in S3 (that isn't meant to sound mean!). She too is astonishingly versatile, and we've seen angry, jealous, adoring, amused, awkward, flirtatious - but nothing of the same intensity that TJ is directing at her. Hmmph.
