Hi all

I really needed something to cheer me up 'cos I'm still laid up with a virus, this definitely did the trick; I've acually liked all of S5 so far so I'm a happy 'Bones' fan.

The down side was there wasn't much of TJ and from a certain point of view maybe too much of the chicken footage. That's actually not my point of view, nothing could be more difficult to watch than the footage I got off Farm Sanctuary where chicks were getting sorted for sex off a conveyor belt (I'm not gonna go any further 'cos it was just horrific). However, I have seen some comments about people not liking the footage and I get that.

The bits I absolutely loved were:

The kids who found the body, lots of mini Brennan's, scary thought. It was so funny that Brennan went from hero to zero in the space of a couple of minutes.

Sweets talk with Brennan about the argument with Angela, he was completely, absolutely, totally right you can't always save the world but you can make those that matter to you happy. I've been there with one of my friends, too complicated to go in to detail but I believed then and still believe I was right just realised that it really didn't matter that much. There was a huge row (mostly me yelling I have to say) and the distance lasted a week, it was horrible, that whole stomach churning thing. In the end it wasn't worth losing the friendship over so I held out an olive branch, sometimes you just gotta give a little (and in the case of Brennan/Angela that pig was really cute).

Booth reaching out to Brennan in the diner, literally, goosebumps time. More goosebumps at the end, didn't you just wanna give Booth a hug, like I don't normally, but even more so with him struggling to get back to normal.

I'm in two minds about the Angela/Wendell thing, I think its sweet but you can really see the prospect for major storm clouds on the horizon. Oh and I didn't totally agree with Sweets about the pig saving being brought on by the celibacy kick I think Angela would have been that caught up with it all anyway, its how she is, I would be exactly the same way.

It was interesting to see Emily playing Brennan with her beliefs being so different to Emily's own and it was interesting to see there were no close up live chickens about, the evil side of me would have quite liked to see DB's reaction.

One last thing I saw a comment from someone saying Angela was back to being a slut, I fail to see how a single woman enjoying a healthy sex life (especially after the celibacy thing) could be descibed as a slut (I'm betting the same wouldn't be said of any of the male characters) Ok I'm getting off my soapbox now, and its only a TV show after all.

Anyway suffice to say I really liked this epi I liked the storyline although I had virtually zero sympathy for the victim who seemed like a self centred, arrogant, sexist factory farmer. I loved the continuing character interaction too not sure about Angela/Wendell but it should be kinda interesting to see where it goes.

Anyway, they're my thoughts, catch you later

Just wanted to add to my earlier post I've just been on Facebook and I've got a link on there to Farm Sanctuary, they have an article posted about this epi saying the footage shown was their's as requested by Emily and that there was going to be a message posted on the Fox site from Emily talking about factory farming etc.

As most of you probably know I'm in agreement with Emily's views on the subject (in general) hence aspiring to be vegan (although I'm not sure that's ever gonna happen). However, I'm not sure whether I think this type of show is the best vehicle for advertising beliefs its kinda like coming on and advocating a political party or something. I'm a bit undecided what does everyone else think?

I liked the ep overall.

The first thing I noticed, was that Hodgins & Wendell seemed to be wearing the same shirt. It was distracting.

I loved Booth's line at the diner: "I would do anything for you. I'd die for you. I would kill for you." But I would have liked to see Brennan or Sweets react to that. The hand holding was cute, also.

Chicken-fried human! Gross. Absolutely disgusting. I love the gross-out factor on this show. :D

I'm glad to finally find out that Brennan went veggie. She had mentioned the possibility in one ep, but there was never anything definite since then.

NOOOOO!!! Wendell & Angela! Ack. He's too young. Too blah.I've never noticed any attraction between them. & I want Angela/Hodgins back. :(

I love the intern abuse. Fabulous. They're always the victim. Love it. :D

I didn't have a problem with them showing the chicken footage. The information they used seemed to be fairly accurate & the show didn't seem to be condemning the farms, as much as just showing some of what happened there, & people's reactions to it. I definitely don't see them as pushing an agenda the way some people do. They didn't seem to be saying "Look at how horrible this is! It's terrible! Do something about it!" Rather, they were just showing the info dispassionately & letting the audience do with it what they will. Of our regular characters, only one was pushing any sort of pro-animal agenda, and that was Angela, and she wasn't trying to get everyone to go vegan, or boycott factory farms, or join any animal rights groups. She was mainly just trying to save a specific pig. Of the others, Wendell was unapologetically carnivorous, & the rest didn't seem to care too much one way or the other.

There wasn't a lot of sympathy for the victim or others, but I suppose not every person will bring out the same level of sympathy. I did feel for the wife a bit, but it was tainted a bit by the fact that she was still being looked at as a suspect.

I actually liked the argument between Brennan & Angela. I think they played it very realistically. Sometimes little things can be blown completely out of proportion, or provide a catalyst for an argument that has been building. It's true that Angela & Brennan have very different ways of looking a the world sometimes & it makes sense that that could cause conflict. The fact that Brennan couldn't abandon her logic for long enough to just accept that this was important to Angela was the straw that finally frustrated Ange enough to finally make her question their compatibility as friends. I doubt it would have caused a permanent rift even if Bones hadn't come around on the donation, because Angela knows that deep-down Bones is a good & warm-hearted person.

I found the ending to be a bit disappointing. They usually try to give as a good connection moment at the end, but I found that this one fell flat for me for several reasons: The B&B connection just wasn't there for me. The Angela/Wendell thing is just ooky for me. I felt that the Angela/Brennan reconciliation was shorted. It was basically a throw-away, & I would have preferred Brennan to make the decision herself to sacrifice logic for friendship, rather than only do it because Booth told her to.

Well, I have little to add to these excellent summaries. The look and style of the season continues to please and I do believe the writing is improving. I didn't think the actual chicken footage was excessive - personal view. I've seen far more distressing elsewhere. As Jude has said, seeing Emily playing against her personal convictions was really interesting, and she did it very well indeed. Of course, our attitude to the victim was somewhat coloured by the sort of person he must have been - he certainly didn't have many fans, did he? Nevertheless I don't think he needed to be ridiculed via a resemblance to a chicken.

I wasn't entirely convinced by the Angela/Brennan tiff. It seemed an extremely mild and downplayed one. I feel that Angela's impulsiveness and Brennan's reasoning would have led to a less bland disagreement. And yes, Jade, I thoroughly agree that we were short-changed on the reunion. It was more important than they made out and Brennan really should not have required the push from Booth to approach her friend. And although I get the point of the making a gesture even if you can't save the world, I also think that trailing around a photo of a cute pig to show to people somewhat trivialised Angela's feelings. The point that it was cute wasn't relevant - the important issue was her desire to save it. If I had had the choice, I would have preferred the argument to be a more obviously ethical one about the chickens. However, I did like the fact that it brought my mind back to little Jasper and, in addition, Sweets' analysis of Angela's transferrence of emotional need onto the animal also recalled to me the picture of the dog she was carrying around with her when trying to entice Roxy into a more permanent relationship.

I'm not sure either whether a Wengela relationship is going to work (sorry!! Couldn't resist  ). I just can't see Wendell as characterful enough to hold Angela's attention for any length of time. He's nice and all, but so bland he could have been a Walton. Nevertheless, a pleasure to see a talented actress like Michaela get her share of screen time and it's an interesting development. Can we get Hodgins a new love interest please, nice writers?

It was an intriguing twist that it was Brennan that spotted the killer's lie and not Booth. No wonder he thinks he's losing it - it was the one thing he felt he could do better than her. Perhaps they should send him to the Lightman group for a refresher? - kidding, kidding! I know how much most of you hate crossovers!

Anyway, overall, I liked this. :)

PS Yes Jude! The girls who found the body...hilarious! Such self-possessed and nerdy little individuals. Loved them.

Yes, please.

At least some casual love interest for a week or two. Because sure now he is the one will has the commitment issue after two fails planned to get marry.

I read all the sides, I think most people not believe that the Wendell/Angela will happens. When read about the other side, it like a confirmation about the relationship. I thought the worst will happen for this episode. The episode 4x08 I just watched it once at the time, and may be a few during hiatus because other episode I watched like more than 5 times. And it takes time for me to decide either to watch it or not even my download's episode completed a few hours later.

So this episode really make me nervous, after the first view I felt nothing. I think it is a good episode but not as good as the museum's episode. And I already watched it 3 times. But I have to skipped the Angela/Wendell's kissing.

I like the way they did the scene when Angela told Hodgins that she nearly achieved the target date for her celibacy. So basically Hodgins can't mad at Angela when she already got the green light to find her own 'guy' to break with.

The friendship they (by they I means HH & Co) tried to shown between Hodgins and Wendell is too much. Really ... same design of shirt? Not enough that they shown that they talked the conspiracy theorist together. But still Wendell can just slept with Angela and shown the affectionate to Angela (may be) in front Cam, Hodgins, Brennan and Booth. I'm not sure either Cam and Hodgins already left at the time or not.

I'm may be minority among minority that feel the Booth and Brennan's thing is kind of forced. And I used to hate Sweets but I like him in this episode. They just need to use him when things applicable only.

I like when TJ just said hmmm, what and ok. Simple but meaningful.

I like this scene, I hope I didn't make this thread/site lagging.

P/S : Previously I always wonder how Sinkwriter can wrote a long posts. She came with 2 or 3 long post each time. I guess, I'm learning.

Another P/S : Where can I send the message to TJ to mention to keep this length of hair and beard.

Well.. I haven't seen this episode yet - I can't wait though. I kind of like the idea that someone could get fried to death, I remember watching an episode on TV when I was about 8 on this show where this stupid woman stuck her hand in the frier, so her hand was extra crispy LOL  Atleast this episode on Bones aires tomorrow in the UK :)
