Huzzah for days off! Hope everyone has been doing well. I just got the DVD of Rent's last performance at the Nederlander Theatre. Been watching that and it makes me sad that I didn't see it many more times while it was playing. And the extras on the dvd... dang... It's like... when you leave school and you know you and your friends are going in opposite directions. Bittersweet. You know? Ending but with whole new beginnings in the future.

Any plans for New Years Eve? I don't. Guess I will have dinner at my parents and then watch TV. Due to this bad weather here I don't wanna go anywhere. 2010 wasn't such a good year for me mostly. So I really hope 2011 will be a super-great year for us all!!!
Take care!

:-) No, no plan... I will spend this day like any other one, with my sons. They'll probably play to some video games and I won't do nothing.
I can't buy any gas for my car so I won't go anywhere as I need to go back to work on monday.
Plus their dad had a car crash yesterday night, fortunately he is safe, but he has no more car, so they won't see him for a while...

To be honest, I feel tired. I'm on holidays by force and I won't be paid for this week (because the company is closed for this week and I have a temporary job) We haven't done anything for Christmas (wasn't able to buy any present) and here it goes again.

Oh well, at least we are healthy :-)
I'll come and lurk around to see if some of you will be online at NYE (I hope you won't, it will mean that you'll have something to do :D )

Hugs to you all :-)

I'll probably be round for a bit, Véro. Although we do get invited to parties occasionally we tend to spend the evening as a family, with hubby doing the traditional 'first footing' at midnight followed by a glass of celebratory champagne and a look at the local fireworks. The best bit though is all the ships sounding their foghorns in the Mersey. Love that. :)

Véro, I hope your 2011 is one of hope and happiness. I know how horrible 2010 has been for you. Remember we will be here to support you, always. <<hug>>

Véro, sending you a big hug! Hope 2011 will be a better year for you and your family. :romance-smileyheart:

Guess I will be around a bit after midnight - or before if I don't feel like staying at my parents until midnight. No other plans at all.

Today is my last day off work. Have to go back on Monday. A lot of work waits for me then. We have to draw up the annual accounts and then there will be the annual audit. As this is the first for the new company with our new boss we don't quiet know what to expect. It's not fun anymore and some co-workers already quit because they found something new. That makes me also very sad!

It's almost 4 am on Dec. 31. Cannot sleep! Was hoping that someone is around here. Unfortunately not.

So, guess I'll see a few of you later here today.

Hellooooooooo TJ world! How are you all?

So as of tomorrow I shall officially be a math major. I've been thinking about switching for quite awhile now but this week when I realized that they would only allow me to take ONE CS course this semester that I really needed to make the switch. I've been taking one CS course for 5 semesters now and at this rate I'll be 2020 before I finish, which isn't the main reason for the switch but it certainly helped me to finally do it. With the math degree I should be finished no later than summer or fall of 2012, which was what I had planned when I started school. Really the reason I wanted to switch was that I found I really really do not like programming. I don't mind the concepts behind it (which is basically math LOL) but actually sitting down and programming I HATED IT! My computer interest is more along the graphics/web developing and hardware side anyway, so the programming was just something I thought I might like. I have to admit I spent the whole Christmas break agonizing over it, wondering if it'd be a setback but after I started the paperwork I felt so relieved.

Anyway, that is my big news, so what is up with everyone? So quiet here. POST PEOPLE! ;) :D

Hello everybody!

So per Sharon's request , what have I been up to? Just working a lot really which is good. I worked all through Christmas and ended up having a wonderful 3-day New Year's weekend. Did not go anywhere or do anything special, just relaxed with the kids.

I made some important New Year's resolutions and have been working on those. One of which is limiting social networking/blog reading time , which is why I haven't been checking in here as much. The other was to be a better parent which has involved starting a parenting class. It's been so stressful the last few months with yelling and sibling rivalry that I've barely had the energy to turn the TV on after they go to bed, much less work or get anything done. My coach through the class has really helped me think of some things differently and given me some strategies for my unique situation and I think it will be helpful. I also started Jillian Michael's 30-day shred. So far not shredding much (haven't changed my diet though) but I don't feel like I'm dying at the end of every workout so that's a start!

Nothing new on the dating front :( Not that I actually have the time right now. I guess all the guys I wished for on my blog are busy too.

Sharon--math major, wow! Good luck! I'm glad you were able to go with something you liked. Someday I'll do it too.

So sorry to hear about your grandpa Ali. ((hugs))

So what's going on everybody?
:D Ang

Well, I'm back at work and just about accustoming myself to getting up at a particular time of day instead of just rising when I want. Today son no.1 had to be shunted back up to Leeds. I couldn't go with the others because of a longstanding hair appointment, but when I got downstairs for my shower panic was ensuing amonst the men, who hadn't yet departed but were due to do so imminently. Son no.2 couldn't find his mobile anywhere and the house was being ripped apart for it, as it contains numerous important contacts - sometimes a quick mobile call is the only way his sports trainers and colleagues have of contacting him at short notice. Eventually it turned up. He had left it zipped up in his trackie bottoms and it had gone through the entire 40 degree wash. Amazingly, the SIM card is still intact, though he may have to get another phone if his doesn't dry off workably. He started castigating himself for being an idiot; his dad likewise for not having checked the pockets as usual when committing anything to the washing machine. Son no.1 rolled his eyes at me as they went out, muttering:'I'm going to have 2 hours of this'...

On the bright side, my hair looks brilliant with its new highlights and the cold snap has not caused any leaks, freezes or other damage in son no.1's student flat. Excellent.

 Hey everyone!!!

First of all, Big big thoughts to all the Australian people dealing with these horrible floods... I really really hope it will turn back to normal very soon... We had very bad floods in France last year, people lost everything, some lost life...

Ali, stay safe please!!!

So, for a more personal touch : I haven't got the job in Rennes. Some of you already know it, but I wanted it to be official.
BUT, and that's the big news, despite I haven't been selected for this job, the lady I met (in charge of the human resources) said I made a good impression and they liked me. So, they're going to study with attention my next applications.
She also asked during the appointment if I wasn't looking for a job in relation with the technical services or cultural ones. I thought it was weird she asked me this.
Well, now I know why : they have a job offer in their cultural service which is avalable from the 1st march, the date when my actual contract ends...
SO, I've phoned the lady and this is then that she said I've made a good impression :-) So, it's not totally negative, considering her words and this new work oportunity...

Right now, I'm working on my letter, trying to find the right words. Fortunately, my co-workers who are specialised in applications want to help me and they will read it this afternoon. So I can send a good letter and hopefuly have another appointment very soon :-) Applications have to be sent before the 15th... at the end of this week!!! I want to send mine tonight or tomorrow morning...
In France they like handwritten letters, so it takes me a long time because I usually write it several times and send the nicest one! :D lol

Ok, enough for now, I need to grab some food and read my ton of emails... I can't believe time flies by so fast...

Hugs!!!

Véro

Today I'm just stopping by to yammer a bit, for no real important reason.

I was so excited today because my last Christmas/birthday presents arrived: NCIS season 6 DVD and my fancy new kindle.
Everything was great until my kindle stopped working. There had been a strange reflection in the screen from the beginning (I thought it was just from the protection I put on the screen), however turns out the screen was crushed while shipping and suddenly all was blurry and didn't work anymore. One second I was reading the next everything was gone and now I am just really disappointed.
I called them, told them what happened and now I have to send it back, they send out a replacement, there'll be a bit of trouble with refund and shipping costs, because it's international shipping....

Ok, I learned this yesterday, so I'll use it:
I'm frustrated because my kindle doesn't work anymore
I'm sad because it's a bad end to such a good day
I'm anxious because I fear something will go wrong with the refund/shipping thing

Rationally I know it's not that bad and will be resolved in a week or two, but right now I feel a bit like crying because I'm so disappointed.

Hi Jessi! Glad I found you on Twitter today. Thanks for following me back. (by the way anyone else here on twitter, I'm @skftex67 if you want to follow me, I follow back people I know.) That stinks about the kindle being broken, I hope it doesn't end up costing a lot for you to get the new one shipped.

Sadly I'm still trying to get my schedule for classes settled, I have to have "advising" from the secondary education adviser and she didn't have an appointment until 1 on Tuesday, which means I am going to miss whatever class I'm supposed to have on Tuesday. BLEH. Hope it isn't the math class.

Other than things are good! Hope you all are doing well.

Oh and Ang, thanks for obeying my command to post the last time. HAHAHAHA (by the way, you don't like being called Angie, but is ANG okay? You used to use that in the chatbox and I got used to it but I can change to Angela if you prefer! LOL)
