*snort* How did I suddenly get roped into this conversation? I'm sitting here this morning, quietly eating my cereal, innocently reading the threads, and suddenly I come across Sharon harassing me!
I certainly don't know what you're talking about. I would never go on and on and on, or post lengthy episode commentaries, or chat in any way that could be considered talking a lot! No, sir! Not ME!
Okay, okay, it's true. What can I say? I love a good discussion. And I love when you all reply with your own thoughts and comments and expressions about what you think and feel. I think it's wonderful, and so much fun.
So, yes, Shannon, Sharon's right. Don't apologize for writing anything lengthy! We love it! You'll fit right in, very nicely. Welcome to TJ's site. I hope you enjoy yourself here. And Hurrah for more S names! *GRIN*

brooke34 wrote:Well, I'm happy that my raving struck a chord. That's awesome that someone thought enough of it to post about it on their LJ... May I ask whose LJ it was?
It's actually an LJ community called "Days of our Bones," found here. It's a locked community (which means you have to be a member in order to participate or see most posts) because it's... ahem... well, I'm not going to lie to you: for better and for worse, it's made up of people who haven't been pleased with the direction of the show or the treatment of its characters lately. People who once adored the show but feel frustrated that the attention to detail Hart once had, the emotional connections amongst characters, the attention to story and character, has fallen to the wayside lately. A couple people created that comm because they felt they couldn't talk as freely on regular Bones-themed sites, that when they did, they would be slammed for speaking out about their frustrations rather than being unequivocally in love with every aspect of the show. (For example, they were often told to 'get over it' or 'you're not a real fan' or 'shut up and stop watching.' And that's some of the nicer comments they got for their opinions.) Their motto is 'we bitch because we love.' There's no question, some people get fairly vocal about how upset or ticked off they are, especially when an episode really troubles them, but most times (heh) we can still get a good rational discussion going and even point out (as I do try to do) the positives that we do see.
For example, even though I felt the episode containing Stewie from Family Guy missed huge emotional points -- like allowing for scenes where other characters could show that they also care very much about Booth, as Brennan does; and where was Parker?? -- I felt that David Boreanaz did a fantastic job with the end scene, where he's in his hospital bed awaiting surgery. I was very impressed with him. I felt he captured the various emotions Booth was going through in a very touching manner, and that expression really got to me.
Side note, everyone (at least, everyone who comments regularly, ha) adores TJ over in that community; they're often commenting about how much they love him and appreciate his talent, and how they wish he had more quality screen time on the show. (Well, who here doesn't want that?? *GRIN*)
Main point is, one of the moderators of the group noticed your post over on TwoP and mentioned it because she was impressed that more people are starting to speak out about the level of quality that we want to see for the show. That we used to see on the show, and how baffled we are at the seeming switch in style and approach to characters and story lately.
Anyway, brooke34, we certainly appreciated reading what you had to say. Like I said, it was insightful and thoughtfully presented. Always a good thing. But when I'm able, I'll comment more about it over in the Bones thread, as Steph has so kindly set up!
Separate comment re: Shannon's post. That rose scene is so beautiful, from the music to the lighting to the pacing of it all... moving from the emotional stuff with Brennan and the two kids, to Jack quietly entering Angela's office and laying down the rose, making that meaningful eye contact with her and then just as silently exiting her office again. It's just so touching. *clutches heart* Great scene mention, thanks!
You crack me up Sherry. Look at the length of the post after the one where you say you don't talk a lot. You know I can't pass up a good chance to tease though!!
But I do have to say, you NEVER go on and on and on... When you post you don't just harp on the same thing over and over which is what going on and on and on usually implies for me. You hit a lot of points within one post and explain those points and move on so it is good reading, not monotonous!

One thing I'm noticing is that long posts definitely aren't frowned upon here. This is assuredly not a "tl;dr" crowd. Which is a good thing, as I tend to blather on a bit. (Just read some of my posts-you'll need bottled water and a snack just to get through them.) Nice to have someone else to blather with...
Oh, and we have the same favorite Jack Hodgins moment. It took one viewing of that rose scene, and I was killed. KILLED. Love. It.
Oh, and Sherry, thanks for the link to that LJ. As it turns out, I had actually visited it before and read some of the entries. It definitely looks like there are some kindred spirits!
WELCOMEShannon!Hope you like it here! Have fun!

Angela: Well, what about love? What do you have to say about love?
Hodgins: It´s overrated-most of the time Dexter: They make it look so easy-connecting with another human being. It's like no one told them it's the hardest thing in the world.

*mock shock* What?? You sassy teaser, you!
Seriously though, I was only joking. Of course I talk a lot! It's undeniable. Heeeee. But I thank you for the compliment. I'm relieved you don't think I go on and on too much. *hugs*
And because I think I may have missed the moment:

Thanks everyone!
You're all so nice I'm at work right now so I'm going to use my time wisely....I'm going to read the forums and catch up! Hopefully by the end of the weekend I'll know who everyone is.
Welcome to our new people, Shannon & Jenny! Sorry about the late welcomes, but I've been away. I'm not even sure that Jenny posted on this thread...it might have been on the sofa. Far too much to read & catch up on. Either way, welcome!

Hi, Laura. Welcome! I myself was a lurker for ages before I actually posted. It's a really sweet bunch of people here though, I'm sure you'll like it. We're all very opinionated and yet still somehow manage to be nice and respectful of one another, which I think you'll agree is a miracle where the internet is concerned.
Just wanted to say I am a fan of your work TJ, and fortunately I have my wife to thank for that. I had never watched a single bones until a few months ago. My wife pulled me away from the computer and work one day to watch an episode. She said some of the discussions throughout bones reminded her of me. I watched and got hooked immediately.
Funny things is, the first time I ever saw TJ Thyne on anything was in the short film "Validation"... (Loved it).... It was about a month after that in which I saw my first Bones Episode...
I am a Chemist and spend much of my time back and forth between Asia, Latin America and U.S. I will not be able to post all the time, but will do my best during downtime...
Thanks again for having this site, I look forward to talking with you all...
So glad to see more people coming out of lurkdom to introduce themselves. Make yourself comfortable and join in on the conversations - we love it!

Welcome Laura! So glad you decided to come out of lurkdom and join us!! Hope you enjoy being on the boards.
Welcome to Samson as well. Samson don't worry about the other thread Steph will just merge it in here when she has a chance, not a big deal at all! Welcome to the boards!

Thanks for having me here..
Whaaaaat!?
Like I ever delete anything that isn't spam or offensive! Like we make anyone feel unwelcome like that. Hiya Samson, I am your friendly neighbourhood mod Steph. As you can see, I've merged your intro into this thread. I have been away for an anniversary break for 4 days and I feel like I need another 4 to catch up on everything that's been happening! Please don't feel bad about supposedly posting 'wrongly'. You didn't. It's just that I am a tidy, perhaps friends would say almost anally retentive, individual and I like to know where exactly to look for things! I know that makes this a bit different from forums elsewhere. The other thing that makes it different has already been mentioned here - we're all friends. We don't flame or insult. At least not so far; destructive people do find sites as they grow in size, but I promise to be vigilant. As it stands, the site totally reflects TJ and his ethos of creativity, tolerance, caring and generosity, and it's a pleasure and privilege to belong, and, indeed, organise.
Big welcome also to Laura. About time! Where'd you get that username btw? good one!
