Poetry Garden

May we have a place to share poems of any type. Clearly TJ appreciates the arts and self expression. I believe that perhaps we should have a Place of Poetry. Whether it's our own, or quotes from famous poets.

Kim, I think this is a great idea (such a recent member and so interested!) and so I am adding your thread into Welcome as a 'garden' for us to explore. I'm putting it here as it doesn't necessarily have to do with TJ's work.

Please feel free to include your own poetry or poetry you love, along with comments on others' work. But bear in mind, while this is a celebration of the amazing creativity we have here, it is not a forum for fanfic. And while poems on, for instance, Bones, will be acceptable, we are NOT NOT NOT going to have any poems about or 'to' TJ! Nothing that might embarrass him the tiniest bit.

Beyond that - have fun!

A sailors tale:

Side to side I rock floating on the waves.
Every day is feels like the same day, but not always the same.
It's always the prettiest when day meets the night.
Look at the sky, the blanket of starts say hello.
Look at the ocean, the darkest of blues.
Some pray for land, some hope to stay out longer.
I just want to sway side to side, floating, hoping,
that the waves will meet the starts.

Free again
==========

Take these chains and set us free
No more hate is placed on thee.

One again there is a glint in my eyes
the veil has been removed, no more discuise.

Flee the innocent, man woman and child.
Time to fly free with Gods grace humble and mild.

We will remember those who died.
And for those who are living and for those who cryed.

All countries gather to pray, in their own unique way.

So no more fighting, no more push, no more shove.
We all want peace, unitity and love.

No more chains will bind us here.
For now is the dawn of a new year.

The Rose

A pale peach,
With the sweet pink
Kiss of dawn.

The petal,
A tiny boat,
Floating on the water.

The gentle touch of sunbeams
Feel the soft delicate petals,
Like the first touch of a mother's hand
On her newborn infant's skin.

It drinks the morning dew,
Like an infant,
Drinking her mother's milk.

The sweet scent
Like the sweet perfume
That turns all eyes in the room.

Each delicate petal,
A tiny cup
From which a fairy
Drinks the morning dew.

Evening Star - By Edgar Allan Poe

'Twas noontide of summer,
And mid-time of night;
And stars, in their orbits,
Shone pale, thro' the light
Of the brighter, cold moon,
'Mid planets her slaves,
Herself in the Heavens,
Her beam on the waves.
I gazed awhile
On her cold smile;
Too cold- too cold for me-
There pass'd, as a shroud,
A fleecy cloud,
And I turned away to thee,
Proud Evening Star,
In thy glory afar,
And dearer thy beam shall be;
For joy to my heart
Is the proud part
Thou bearest in Heaven at night,
And more I admire
Thy distant fire,
Than that colder, lowly light.

Brown Penny by William Butler Yeats

I whispered, 'I am too young,'
And then, 'I am old enough';
Wherefore I threw a penny
To find out if I might love.
'Go and love, go and love, young man,
If the lady be young and fair.'
Ah, penny, brown penny, brown penny,
I am looped in the loops of her hair.

O love is the crooked thing,
There is nobody wise enough
To find out all that is in it,
For he would be thinking of love
Till the stars had run away
And the shadows eaten the moon.
Ah, penny, brown penny, brown penny,
One cannot begin it too soon.

Poetry Garden is a GREAT IDEA!!!! I do not have a real creative bone in my body but when I am angry and hurt I tend to put it into words - so this may be the only time I plant an "original" poem in the garden - if it sounds a little (or alot) bitter it is only because when I POUNDED it out on the keyboard I was unleashing seven years of bad vibes...

I put it all on the line and hoped you would not laugh
You said what I needed to hear, maybe this time would last
Every time we start this thing over again
We get one step closer to perfect before it ends
Then it could be anything from a fight to a worry
And like a flash, you disappear in a hurry
And leave me behind to decide what to do
So I look at all the facts to determine who hurt who
Decide from bits and pieces if either of us still care
Eventually I call, I say my peace and say a prayer
Then you always surprise me with a humble “me too”
Once again initiating the cycle that has become me and you

But this time was different because I made it more real
I did what I feared most and let you know how I feel
Not only did you not run away from this
You stayed for a while and I believed in your kiss
Then things took a turn and reality struck
I try to depend on you and you turn from me with a shrug
We are used to the break ups since they happen so often
But this time was unforgivable, it wasn’t just me you gave up on
I had to be twice as strong with this new situation
And make a decision that I have put off our entire duration

Here is where the cycle of me and you has to end
Because you chickened out and myself I must defend
You are a coward, not the man I thought of you as
I will never again love you or let thoughts of you cross my path
You did not deserve what I gave you and I do not deserve what you left me
Some day you will carry this guilt and someday I will heal and finally be free.

Being a naval brat and a self described "water baby", I can REALLY relate to this one. Most EXCELLENT!

Holy crud sticks... did we date the same guy or something,,, this sounds like someone I dated and how I felt,,, he was a real jerkface too... he accused me of cheating on him when I didn't and he was a real coward about everything, he couldn't even let go of his ex wife and those issues... so I totally can see where you're coming from here... kudos on this poem.

On The Swings

When age has clipped our wings of innocence
Our chains are laboured links forged in defence,
Till we are anchored by the corpse of time,
Responsibility, our debts, our crime.

But when, handfast, we seek remembered swings,
Their chains bring passion and a pulse that sings.
We clasp each other through the links and fly
In harmony exalted to the sky,

Heads dizzy, dipping to the planet's core,
Eternally united where we soar...
Till cold, twined feet trace a balletic fusion,
Touch bright creation's rim, and end confusion.

The Mask

Dark clouds caress my dreams, brings my warrior to life.
Strong I be, my heart will not flee from the truth that gives me strife.

Lies may Plague, no matter how vague, I will over come with my knife.
So long to thee that haunts me, you no longer consume me with your hate.
The shroud of pain and lies will not become my fate.

Time will tell, when trust and truth will prevail, someone will finally see me.
Until then I hide my head, this warrior behind her mask will be me.

One Minute (Oct. 18th, 2008)

One minute and everything goes away.
Many emotions rush through me
like the water of a river
that makes the blood within me
sigh and shiver.

One minute every darkened past gets whisked away.
This chemistry between us
others may not see
all that truly matters
is what you mean to me.

One minute it's just the two of us.
Just the one glance,
you send my way
makes my heart soar,
and my fears fly away.

One minute...is all that matters.

I wrote this years ago, I do enjoy to write poetry, and I'll be glad to share some of them with you guys.

Monsoon

A desert wind blows
and cuts the heat.
I feel it all,
as my heart beats.

Cactus sing,
a distant song.
Nature breathes
as you belong.

Waters start to flow
with anger.
The sky is crying out,
Danger!

One minute,
two.
Time sure
flew.

Bright orange,
Even pink and red.
The rain has stopped,
It's time for bed.

Stand Alone

I stand alone, no one sees me, truly sees me.
Only Fake smiles; shadows colors of gray and Sky's of black.

Please dry my tears away.

You say you care, when I know you don't.
You say you'll be there, but when I need you, you won't.

Flames consume my soul, with sadness and pain.
Let my tears roll away with the flood of rain.

Friends are far and few, never around.

Parents say they love you, but compassion is no where to be found.

Don't tell me you like or hate my poem, I really don't care.
I'm only here because my heart calls out in despair.

Just see that I'm here, know I'm not a burden or a curse or worthless, just see that i'm more, more than nothing.
