I'm not up on all the information re: Doctor Who, so please forgive me for all the questions.

Are they all taking a break from doing the show? Does this mean there will be no new episodes this Christmas 2008? And no new episodes this coming Spring 2009? Does this mean they won't show new episodes until next year Christmas 2009? I'm confused.

P.S. Thanks so much for that link, Simone! Lovely. :D

I don't know how much of the show you have actually seen, Sherry; but in the UK, this is what is now happening.

Series 4 (David Tennant's third) finished here a few months ago. We now have a Christmas special coming up in December. Through 2009 there will be no actual series, but, I think, another 3 long specials including Christmas 2009. After that, no more Tennant Who. Series 5 will run in 2010 - but with a new Doctor.

*hugs Steph* Nice to chat with you. :D

I admit, there's still a lot of DW that I have yet to see. However, oddly enough, I have already seen the final episode of Season 4. That's what comes from flipping channels late at night and coming across episodes out of order (and not knowing where the episode I was watching fell in the order of things). *sheepish grin*

I first saw a Tennant episode or two (one from Season 2, one from Season 3), then saw the final ep of Season 4, and then I saw an episode with Eccleston as the Doctor. And then BBC America showed a DW marathon of the Eccleston season (skipping a few episodes, I regret to say, so I still haven't seen all of Season 1).

Also, since three different channels here in the States (BBC America, Sci-Fi, and PBS) show Doctor Who at different times on different days, I've seen random episodes from Seasons 1, 2, 3 and 4. Though definitely not a lot of 4, yet.

I guess you could say I've seen the show in a very haphazard, backward sort of way.

But now I've got my hands on some DVD sets, so I've gone back and just started watching all over again, from the very beginning of Season 1, so I can get the flow of it all. Last night I watched the one where they meet Charles Dickens. I love Simon Callow, so that was cool!

And of course, it was funny to see Eve Myles on the program, playing a woman named Gwyneth, given that she's now on Torchwood and playing a woman named Gwen. I hear Russell T. Davies has joked that that Gwyneth character is a very distant relative of the Torchwood Gwen. By the way, it tickles me how clever and fun RTD seems as a person and as a writer. From the interviews I've seen and read, his enthusiasm reminds me of Joss Whedon. I like and respect him a lot. I really want to read that book you mentioned, Steph! Can't wait until it comes out here.

Quick hi to blue_eyes! Glad to see you coming out of the woodwork. How have you been?

Hello everyone!

Simone, sorry to hear David Tennant is leaving Dr. Who, though I've only seen about 2 minutes of any Dr. Who show. The 2 minutes was one with David Tennant in it though!

I've gone from having 14 hours of classes to 10, because I dropped my physics class. I'll take it again next semester. Hopefully the second time is the charm!

Hello to blue_eyes, nice to see you posting again! :)

Hello! Very quiet again. At least we have a new Bones this week.

Have a great Sunday everyone! Do you like the time change? They always talk about an extra hour of sleep but I always wake up about the same time if I don't have the annoying alarm clock to do it for me. So this morning I wake up, thinking it was my normal time, and nope, its an hour earlier. Sigh. But once I'm up, I'm up, so no extra hour of sleep for me! I know in the UK you changed your clocks back last week??? I hate the spring one more though.

Hi all

I'm new to the forum and I'm told this is the place to say hello to everyone. My name is Jude obviously! I also answer to Judith or Ju depending on who I'm speaking to. I'm actually 41 but the username is universal and a few months old.
I live in Liverpool, England which is buzzing today as the MTV Europe music awards are here.
I'm a civil servant but aspire to doing something a bit more creative, although I've been aspiring for quite a long time now!
For fun I love socialising with my friends and boyfriend and travel especially to the US and Ireland (although going to Dublin isn't exactly major travel as its only 30-40 minutes on a plane). I'm also a member of Mensa although I don't do much with them (took the tests out of curiousity). I have some probably incorrect ideas of what some other members might be like and the one person I've had major contact with was really obnoxious (you think Brennan's people skills are bad!). Favourite TV, aside from 'Bones' is 'Cold Case', 'X Factor' and sport particularly football (soccer), I have a season ticket to watch Liverpool.
Other things about me, I love to have a laugh, feel and act twenty years younger than I am and can be a bit fiery (I'm female, scouse and have an Irish background so hardly surprising). After thinking about it for a long time I've recently become a vegetarian. Oh and I am of course a massive TJ fan with a bit of a penchant for David Boreanaz as well!

I love this place! Can't imagine what to do without it! And it's getting better every day! Great job, Sharon!
That's all for now!

Hi Steph

Continuing from the site update forum..... I can't belive I'm on a site for an American actor talking footie! You're right about the Man Utd time I'm surprised that didn't carry on until they scored, not that I'm bitter or anything! At least I can call it footie to you can't get the hang of the whole 'soccer' thing.
I have to say this is a cool site loads of info on one of my fave actors and lots of friendly people too.

Well, you must be feeling better!
And Robbie Keane scored. Well, that should put paid to that wondeful Scouse joke about him having beaten David Blaine's record for hanging about in a box doing nothing!

Let's be really optimistic and hope for a miracle tomorrow - Chelsea losing.

It did help I have to admit although I'm well on the way to losing my voice (quite a few people would say that's not a bad thing!).
We'll just have to hope that Blackburn get their act together although I'm not holding my breath but you never know.

Welcome, welcome, Ellen. I don't think anyone needs to apologise for not being here every moment. We all have lives don't we? Folks?

Anyway it is fabulous to see you back, and I hope you will be contributing to our ideas for the 'new' site!

Welcome, Jude! Welcome back, Ellen!

Like Steph said, we all know how real life responsibilities can cause participation here to drop every once in a while. We can certainly understand that.

How are you? How have you been?

I've been interviewing for a couple more jobs, and searching for more possibilities. One job I've interviewed for three times -- once with the guy who'd be my manager, once with an HR (Human Resources/Employee Relations) rep for the company, and most recently, once with the CFO of the company. So, it seems like I have a fighting chance at that job. They seem to think I can do the job and that I have the experience they're looking for. Initially, the job was listed as a part time position that's supposed to turn to full time hours after a 'trial period.' I need full time work, but at this point, it's been a year almost to the day since I got laid off from my job (god, that's enormously depressing), so I decided to apply for the part time job anyway, in hopes that perhaps it had potential to expand to full time eventually. Couldn't hurt to find out, right?

Last Monday the HR rep called me to let me know that they really liked me a lot and felt I'd fit in very well with the company and their employees, but... after talking with me during the interviews, during which I'd specifically asked about the potential of the position turning to full time work, they thought about it and decided to go ahead and make the postion full time right away. That would seem great for me, right? However, changing the parameters of the job posting to full time means they have to follow a regulation which states they need to post the job internally for at least a week, so that it's available to any employees who already work for the company, should they decide they want to apply for it.

So, I could be thisclose to getting a job, but not get it because someone who already has a job and already works for the company decides they want a chance to do that job. *sigh*

It's a waiting game, at this point. If I don't get offered the job, it's back to the drawing board, and I cannot even say how depressed I will be. I don't want to think about it. If I do get offered the job... well, let's just say I've already been daydreaming in my head about what apartments in the area I'd check out, what I'd do with my time, and how fantastic it would be to have better, stronger control over my own life again. But I'm trying very hard to reel in those thoughts, not make any assumptions, because I just don't want to get too invested and be rejected again.

My sister called last night, asking if I was planning on traveling to our parents' house for Thanksgiving at the end of the month, but I'm so torn. Part of me would LOVE to see my niece and nephew, and my siblings, and spend time with the rest of the family. At the same time, I'm hesitant. My parents think it's about money, and that's a small part of it -- I've been trying to be very careful and smart about not spending unnecessarily while I'm still out of work -- but ultimately, it's not really the reason. I don't mean to sound like a big whiner, but I'm just so tired. This year has been more emotionally draining than I can say. While I'd love to see them all, the thought of driving three hours one way (which I ordinarily wouldn't mind) feels exhausting to me right now. I just don't feel like traveling. I want to stay here.

Aside from all that drama, not much else going on with me right now. I did manage to visit a couple of very dear friends of mine a few weeks ago, and it was tremendously uplifting. To be around two people who know me really well and understood what I was feeling, and also conversed with me about other, more positive things, like fun creative stuff... that meant so much to me. I joked that I didn't want to leave. ;)

Part of me wasn't joking.

Anyway, blah blah, I'm muddling through as best as I can. Enough about me! What are all of YOU up to? Come on, share! :D

Hi Sherry

Thanks for the welcome. I'm feeling very sorry for myself with a cough and cold right now, so its curl up on the couch eating lots of chocolate time. My voice is rapidly disappearing and I don't do not talking very well except when I'm asleep so this is not good.
I've also just managed to burn the quorn steaks I'm having for dinner as well, OH JOY! Still at least this time they are still edible and there is no smoke involved!
The weather here in North West England is seriously not helping either unless of course you happen to have a bizarre facination for continual rain. On the plus side though I recorded two episodes of Bones without knowing which ones they were. One of them happens to be 'Santa in the Slush' which although not my absolute favourite is definitely a bit of a 'feelgood, evening in PJs eating lots of things that are really bad for you kind of episode'
So here's to chocolate, feelgood TV and ......... what the heck more chocolate!

Hi Sherry! That all sounds really complicated with the job you've been interviewed for. I really hope you will get it! Fingers still crossed! Having no job really sucks, I know! I was there once, too. Chin up, you gonna find one again.
Maybe you should go visit your family for Thanksgiving. Might help to clear your head and get some comfort and fun!?
OK, chocolate might help as well. You can have that there, too!

Things are crazy at work at the moment! I guess I need some chocolate, too. But I want to loose some weight before I go to London on vacation. Looking forward to that! :D

OK, Sherry, I wish you all the best!

Hi, Jude! (I can't tell you how many times I've had to restrain myself from the obvious 'Hey, Jude.' *GRIN*)

Seriously though, I'm sorry you're not feeling well. And that you burned your supper. Yuck!

*tucks you in and brings you warm, yummy supper and sweet, throat-soothing tea*

Take extra care of yourself, okay? And absolutely, have some chocolate. As the character Lupin says in the third Harry Potter film, "It helps; it really helps!" I make it a point to always listen to such wise characters. Heeeee.

Simone, you are such a sweetheart. Thank you for your thoughtful words of encouragement. *hugs you*

And if I may say so, whether you lose weight or not, I'm positive you are and always will be beautiful. You certainly already are, to me. Have a marvelous time in London! When do you go? :D
