The Card Calendar

Post by ThyneAlone »

More experimental sofa stuff. I don't expect hordes to come running to this thread. This is like a greetings card equivalent, geared towards thinking about important times. I am going to use it when
  • TJ has a birthday, a film release or a special occasion of some kind
  • one of us has a birthday, anniversary, new job or, on the down side, a bereavement or a sad event in our lives
  • we want to send holiday good wishes to others.
So this is for short posts, guys, put the details in the sofa.[/color]

I thank you all for the Thanksgiving wishes, too!

My belly is still happily full of mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie, two things I don't get the chance to indulge in very often. I'm in a carb coma. LOL. Yummmm.

Awww thanks Steph, and everyone else! I wonder if we will get our mod powers today? That would be a great birthday present! (yeah, today's the day...). And of course, congrats to Steph--I think it will be great!

Wait -- wait -- did I read that correctly?

Is today your birthday, Rebecca?

Awesome!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, REBECCA!

I know it's not much, but I wanted to send you something pretty -- this is a photo I took a couple months ago on a walk through a nature preserve. If I had a picture of pumpkin pie, which I know you love, I'd send that. LOL.

Hey, I baked homemade pumpkin bread not long ago, got a loaf in the freezer -- would you like some of that? Hee.

Sorry... we're so far apart, this is the best I can do on short notice.

I hope you have a MARVELOUS day!

Image

Can anyone tell me how to make this smaller? It's listed as 320x240 on Photobucket -- shouldn't it be showing as smaller than this monstrosity? I'll try to get this fixed so it's not taking up so much room on the site! Sorry, all... I'm still in the newbie/fiddler stage of computer photos and images.

Sherry, the photo is fabulous! Just what I wanted for my birthday! (so yes, it is!) I'll be having my little party later, at my favorite Mexican restaurant here in town--Nati's. I like Nati's because we were both established in 1960! LOL!

Well Sherry, I have absolutely no idea how to handle images on the Net (though I think your beautiful picture deserves to be a decent size). Don't even know how photobucket works, am hoping to get avatars up and running here but have no clue how to make one or where I'd get one from. And as to resizing - lost me completely.

Actually my main issue with avatars is that if I take an icon from somewhere else I know I shouldn't just link to the image cos of bandwidth issues (that much, I understand, just plain etiquette). So I save it to my computer - how do I get it onto the Net from there? That's the bit no-one has told me!

If someone decides to let me know about this, could you please do it either in the site/moderator thread or pm me? Don't want to take up a moment longer of Rebecca's birthday on such mundanities.

You aren't being mundane at all, Steph. I'd also like to know how to post a picture here. Seems like I've done it one other time, but for the life of me I can't remember how...

Just got back from dinner with friends and family, and now have time to relax! I think I'm getting a cold, so that isn't good news...

Okay, I didn't do anything all day and suddenly the picture is smaller. S-p-o-o-k-y. (And Mulder says, What? Did someone say my name?)

Oh no. Fight it, woman! Take vitamin C, have some tea, maybe soup or warm broth, and get some rest tonight. And thus ends the extent of my 'medical expertise.' LOL.

Seriously, take good care of yourself tonight -- let your friends and family take good care of you tonight, and enjoy the rest of your birthday. :D

Sending a hug!

To all of you

Merry Christmas and an excellent 2008 to you all.
Thank you for making this board the wonderfully welcoming, ebullient and intelligent place that it is. What would the site be without you? Well still good, obviously, but without the human warmth that reflects so well the larger-than-life personality that is TJ Thyne.

Thank you for making me think about things that might never have occurred to me previously!

Thank you for your support of what management and the mods & admin are doing.

Thank you for sharing yourselves!

I've had a great few months and look forward to more. Keep safe; have a fabulous holiday. :)

Much love,
Steph x

And finally..... to you, TJ, the best of Christmases and a loving and successful 2008. The world is a better place for having you in it and we all love you. And actually this site wouldn't even be here without you and that would leave quite a gap!

Loads of love as ever,

Steph (and no doubt everyone else!!!)xxxxxx
